Taxonomy Series
Spending as much time by the ocean as I do, it’s inevitable that I’d encounter a large repository of glass and shards of pottery. These specimens are essentially the ocean-improved outcome of human trash. The ocean takes it in, shapes it, and returns it to land.
These pieces, or combinations of pieces, reminded me of the display of beetles or butterflies in a natural history museum. While glass is man made, the shapes I found have the imprint of nature, of a force beyond human control. This is how the Taxonomy series was born.
